Anna Papageorgiou, BSc PT MCPA
Anna graduated from the University of Toronto with a BSc in Physiotherapy in 1987.
She is a highly skilled manual therapist with extensive post graduate studies in orthopedics, sports injuries, manual therapy, muscle imbalances, pain management, exercise prescription, and has successfully completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University in Hamilton in 2007.
She has treated a wide variety of clients from professional athletes, competitive dancers, swimmers and gymnasts as well as post-operative clients including joint replacement, fractures, rotator cuff tears, motor vehicle accidents, with multiple traumas and regular repetitive strain injuries.
Anna strives to combine manual therapy hands on techniques such as soft tissue release, joint mobilizations and nerve tissue mobilizations techniques with specific functional strengthening exercises.
Education is an integral part of her treatment with the ultimate goal of empowering clients to become active participants in their recovery.
Carolyn Campbell, BSc PT, M. Manip. PT
Carolyn has been working in private practice for over 20 years, successfully treating a wide variety of orthopedic and sports related injuries. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario with her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. In 2001 she travelled to Australia to complete her Masters in Manipulative Therapy from the University of Queensland.
Assessment of postural issues, muscle imbalances, specific muscle weaknesses and joint/soft tissue restrictions will all be addressed on an individual basis. Her treatment combines manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilization, myofascial release, specific guided strengthening programs and client education to optimize full recovery.
Maria Morel, BSc PT, D.Ac, MCPA
Maria graduated from the University of Toronto in 1988 with a BSc (Physical Therapy). Over the years she has expanded her knowledge and skill base with numerous courses in manual therapy, core strengthening, exercise prescription, kinesiotaping, acupuncture and John Barnes myofascial release. Drawing on these tools, she assesses, treats and educates with a whole body approach to meet her clients’ goals for recovery.
Karen Rose, BSc PT, BPHE
Karen supports the recovery and growth of individuals both professionally and personally. By seeing beyond the superficial and guiding others to share in that deeper insight, Karen enables her clients to unleash their full potential. Building upon her extensive involvement in sports at both the provincial and national levels, she utilizes fascial release techniques, customizing treatment programs. Karen winds her way through the symptoms to find the true source of dysfunction, treating with patience and positive energy.
Karen graduated from the University of Toronto and has been treating in private practice since 1998. She treats acute and chronic disorders.
Our Massage Therapists
Katie Doran, R.M.T.
Katie is a registered massage therapist with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. She graduated from Centennial College 2004. Katie would describe herself as a well rounded massage therapist, applying a number of different modalities to reach the desired treatment goal. Some modalities are Deep Tissue Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Facial Techniques, Active and Passive Stretchin, Pre-Natal Massage, Sports and Athletic Massage, Preventive Maintenance and Remedial Excercises.
Gail Sheehan, R.N., R.M.T., D.Ac
Gail has worked in rehabilitive massage therapy for 14 years during which time she completed many continuing educational courses including a Doctorate in Acupuncture. She has acquired extensive experience treating sports, occupational and repetitive strains and injuries as well as numerous pathologies and postural related pain and dysfunction. Gail uses modalities such as ultrasound, passive stretch, soft tissue release and encourages active participation in her treatment plan with stretching and strengthening exercises.
Joanna Juchau, RMT, Osteopathy (current study)
Joanna will be re-joining Durham Orthopedic in August 2018. Joanna has been working as a manual therapist since 2004 and is in the process of completing her 5th year of osteopathic training at the Canadian College of Osteopathy. Joanna brings with her a very strong anatomical understanding of the human body. She has advanced training in modalities such has Cranial Sacral Treatment, Visceral/Organ Manipulation, Muscle Energy Techniques, Myofascial Release, and Joint Mobilizations. Her approach includes a detailed health history followed by an assessment of the whole body. This helps her gain valuable information to identify the underlying cause of pain and dysfunction. The treatments are gentle and effective and appropriate for all ages and conditions. Osteopathic Manual Techniques are provided by Joanna Juchau and billed under Massage Therapy.
